The fast food industry is taking on PETA’s attempts to demonize them, and has unleashed a series of documents regarding some unethical behaviors of the nonprofit. A few months ago if you Googled PETA, you probably would’ve been greeted with images of supermodels in cages wearing nothing but body paint, or some controversial billboards shaming overweight children. Now, a PETA search turns up some pretty damning stuff.

Big Dairy Attacks Alternative Milk

Big Dairy has unleashed a new ad campaign that comes across as a blatant attack on its newest competitors: non-dairy milk. Joining the ranks of Coke vs. Pepsi, the “Real Milk Comes From Cows” campaign is laden with language aimed at showing consumers how terrible milk substitutes are for them. Brought to you by The California Milk Processor Board, the ads lined up several milk alternatives next to “real” milk, with labels highlighting the ingredients of each.

Confronted by public outrage over all-too-common cruelty to farmed animals, as exposed by hidden cameras and undercover investigations, factory farming interests predictably seek the moral low ground. Rather than addressing the cruelty itself, they would prefer to simply end consumer awareness of it. One such bill in Iowa just passed the Senate, and is only awaiting the governor’s signature; another in Utah has passed the House, and could become law if approved by the Senate.
